Pin It Tuesday!
I try to plan FHE while Jake makes Sunday dinner. Right now, Family Home Evening is a lot easier than it seemed to be when I was the kid. Even though my mom put a lot of effort into helping us learn the gospel, and we did learn a lot, we fought against the "every one gather and listen thing," which led us to name it Family Night Fights.
Pulling myself back from 1988, I always hope to teach the children something they will remember and that will become apart of who they are and what they believe for themselves. The other day in the car I asked them if they knew what our Church is called. Abbi said it's the Roy Church. Right. So we talked a little about it and then while I was looking through this PIN I was led to the Nursery Manual, which is recommended for teaching children in the home, too. And, lo and behold, there was a lesson called, "I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints."
It was perfect for our family night. I did make us our own page rather than use the coloring page in the manual. I didn't make it colorful because I think Jake has started noticing how fast our ink cartridges go. But, you could print it on colored paper....
Noah drew some dots that, at first, he said was the Hulk. I said, "The Hulk doesn't go to church." Noah answered, "Well, he should." But then later said that the Hulk probably shouldn't go to church because he would just smash primary.
