Moose's Birthday Party

I didn't have a chance.

Baymax (aka: Bad Guy)

I took Abbi to get some new clothes.  Her and Noah are skipping sizes and growing like crazy.   While we were out, we saw an adoption size at Petco.  We decided to go see and pet the animals.  Just like most of our pets, we ended up with another unplanned addition to our family.  Abbi was in love with the kittens and wanted to use her own money to adopt one of them.  I tried to get Jake to veto over the phone, but he just hung up on me.  So, there we went, with her new kitten.

As we drove home, I was thinking about Abbi, how she has changed and all of her wonderful qualities.  I was overwhelmed with my love for her.  She had been, and usually always is, so kind and unselfish that day.  While we shopped, I showed her a few different outfits but she was sure she had already picked enough things and didn't need anymore.  Even when I offered to show her some other stores, she said that she had gotten what we came for.

That is, until we met the kittens.  She was still kind and careful then, too, but it was fun to see her get so excited.  She's never begged for anything.  Abbi was sure she could show us how responsible she is and that she would pay for him and always take care of him.

I love this girl so much that I don't regret having the naughtiest kitten in all the world.  She loves him.  My favorite part is listening to her "discipline" him.  She tries to reason with him over and over until she gives up and blows in his face.  He thinks it's a game.

She almost chose this guy but he didn't look as playful as his brother.

Abbi paid $100 to adopt Baymax.  Adoption cost $75 (to include his neutering) and $25 on a few supplies.

He's incredibly naughty.  All the time.

He especially loves throwing jigsaw puzzles on the ground.

The hay was full of cats, but they all hid when I tried to take a picture.

Insecurities VS. Being True

Isn't it interesting when a person you admire confessing their insecurities?  Weight, appearance, family status, relationships, parenting skills,  introvert vs. extrovert, hiding values or abilities, using humor to mask reality, acting one way in person but really feeling differently inside, focusing on surface issues to avoid communicating about real issues, etc.  So many complicated layers of life collect by a person thinking it will help keep things simple, while in fact, it sorely complicates life then and in the future.

I want to be true to who I really am.  I want to be the person who lives inside me.  I am who I am.  I feel like I haven’t acted like a true friend when someone I care about tells me something they wish they could have told me long ago.  I want those I care about to know they can always be true to themselves with me.  But, in turn, I know that I have a lot of layers I have piled on over the years and I want to give my true self to others.

Layers don’t go away easily.  Each layer carefully covered an insecurity which really just covered a piece of your true self.  It takes an act of courage and pure honesty for insecurities to fall to the wayside.  Here it comes, I’m going to share the real me, one layer at a time.

Pena Baby #3 - Coming Soon

Kayli and her two boys stopped by Friday afternoon with a plate of treats and a Valentine's card.  It was fun to visit with her and my kids liked having the boys over to play for a little while.  I feel so blessed to have Kayli.  Not many people have a life-long best friend, especially like her.  I'm so excited to see meet the new baby.  They make some wild ones!

Terry Nail

I love sneaking over to Terry Nails for gel nails or a pedicure.  I never knew I would love it so much!  I wish I could go all the time!  When I went before Valentine's Day, I was the only customer there.  The two ladies did such a good job and I LOVE the massage chair!  I didn't have any preference for my nails so they told me to look on Pinterest and pick my favorite.  The girl matched it exactly!  The owner even did a cute design on my big toes.  Anyone who can even paint my toenails is some sort of expert.  I love Terry Nail, not to ever be confused with Jumy Nail.  I don't love them.

Cat Clock

Jake bought me the best clock ever!  I love it!

Abbi wanted me to post a picture of my new clock and tell everyone she thinks it is horrible, annoying, an orange nightmare, and it will make her freak out.
