moving day

I knew the construction of my parents' home was officially over when the truck hauled off the builder's outdoor toilet.  Right on schedule, and after 6 months of living in Grandma's basement, Mom and Dad moved into their new home in Riverdale.

My parents and I started moving things on Friday morning.  I took a car load of some of my parents' personal effects. Let me mention that I was unsupervised during this time.  The aforementioned "effects" included a basket of my dad's underwear. He really loves his underwear. In my mind, I imagined him and I playing a great game of hot and cold. In reality, he called me late that night and we had a fun guessing game.

There were no groceries at the new house so Dad grabbed a few essentials from food storage. Essentials like: mustard, steak sauce, tuna, Lima beans, spinach, etc. The refrigerator was also stocked with must haves: soda, milk, juice, a lime, and frozen breakfast food.

Grandma isn't going to live there but she worked circles around the rest of us. Either she really wants them moved out of her basement or she just has a lot of soul....even though she isn't a soldier.  I bet she is worn out today because she was there on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday working so hard!

There are two neat drawers in the kitchen with windows. Tiffani and I were responsible for them. Tiffani's drawer is for bread and crackers so she filled it with pasta and legumes. Mine was the treat drawer, of course. I can see Anne or I breaking into it if the drawer isn't maintained properly.

Really, Mom and Dad built a very nice home.  It's just what they wanted and they deserve the best.  I hope they have decades of good years there with lots of memorable memories.

it's fair to be mad sometimes

a myth floats around that girls are unjustifiably angry against the opposite sex.  i'm not saying i'm an angry girl.  i'm just offering evidence for our team....

i heard about this blog last night after hearing that my good friend went on a date with someone just like these guys.  i won't write an editorial of my feelings about the dum nuts who publish that stuff.  it'd take too long.

a very very happy end to a slightly unhappy week

"bored people are boring"

Responding to the challenge of my Sister the Elder I have posted my never-ending to-do list for all to see.  I have added to and carried this list around for at least a year.  To toot my own horn, yes toot, I would like to mention that there were 13 things that I accomplished before sharing this list with you fine blog-stalker friends.

Many of my aspirations do keep me at home.  I'm okay with that.  Sometimes I want to just stay home.

Hopefully, I'll knock a bunch of stuff off this list and I'll be able to add a load of things on.  I like lists.  My spontaneity gets me in to ridiculous situations that are not always easy or convenient to correct.

So anyway....

a lesson on to-do lists:

  1. if you make plans, write them down.

  2. if you decide to do something spontaneously, write it down.

  3. if you have a goal, write it down.
  4. if you have chores to do on your day off, write them down.
i have a never-ending list of things to do. i love lists.  for the past week or so, i have been stewing over whether or not to get a dog. i've been searching online for my dog companion. last night, i went out looking for him/her. i came home with the puppy of my dreams. she looks like an ewok. i named her ruthie pig-face draper. ruthie was cute and sweet and tiny.
ruthie was not on my never-ending to-do list.  that's where this all must have gone wrong.  she was a good puppy all night but i got zero sleep.  this morning, i called the puppy farmer and asked to return baby ruthie.  she was great and everything but she deserves to see the light of day and with me she'll have to be in a crate for most of the day.  that's no way to live a fulfilling puppy life. after 14 hours as human/dog companions, i left ruthie with her farmer and puppy family.  i'm going to stick to my list from now on.

please note: 14 hours is longer than at least one other pet saga from my life
